Research interests
The focus of Dr. Carron's research is newborn hearing screening and cochlear Implants.
Professional activities
Dr. Carron is active in many major specialty societies, such as the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, American Academy of Pediatrics - Section on Otolaryngology, American Society for Pediatric Otolaryngology, and is currently the president of the Mississippi Society of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. He was instrumental in establishing the first cochlear implant program at UMC and has successfully implanted over 100 children and adults since its inception. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Magnolia Speech School. He is also the medical student program director for the department.
Publications of note
Dr. Carron has over 30 peer reviewed articles and book chapters, and has presented at several national meetings, such as the American Society for Pediatric Otolaryngology, Triological Society, and the Society for Ear, Nose, and Throat Advances in Children.
